Nomads National Andrew Mentis Endowment Fund (NNAMEF)

Our main fundraiser effort is the NNAMEF. In order to understand the ramification of this we have detailed a bit of history of the evolution of the event

Two charities the funds support at present are Hope/Ithemba Crisis Pregnancy Centre and Broken Wings.

HOPE/ITHEMBA CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTRE.

The Centre, which is a non profit organisation, opened on the 13th June 2008 with the purpose of coming alongside and supporting ladies in crisis pregnancies. Most of these women are desperate, confused, alone and in dire financial straits, and feel that the only solution to their problem is an abortion.
The counsellors at the centre seek to inform them regarding the risks, physically and emotionally, involved in an abortion so that they can make an informed decision.
We work with Child Welfare and other adoption agencies should the mother decide on adoption as an alternative.
Practical help is provided for the ladies who decide to parent their babies in the form of baby clothes, nappies and food parcels etc. They are also advised on health issues during their pregnancy.
A media centre is being set up where parenting classes and other relevant education will be presented. Once this has been established mothers will earn baby bucks (imitation money) by attending the classes, and then will be able to use these for purchasing what they need for their babies from the centre.

BROKEN WINGS ( ASSOCIATION FOR THE DISABLED )

The centre was established in 1998 where disabled teenagers and young adults receive training and nurturing. The vision is to develop a centre with good facilities to allow the disabled to develop to their full potential. This day care centre for the severally disabled offers care whilst allowing their families and care givers a degree of relief from the constant attention these special people require.
